This paper describes the following three aspects of non-ferrous metallic materials used for automobiles from a view point of the environmental issues. 1. Aluminum and magnesium applications for the purpose of vehicle weight reduction have been increased in quantity and will be continued to expand their volume toward future. 2. Precious metals for catalysts, which are inevitable yet a very small amount of usage, have been drastically increased in demand. 3. Hazardous materials, even if little amount of usage, should be restricted according to the regulations.
