Cabs for modern heavy-duty trucks must be both strong and lightweight, tough and functional, yet offer the level of comfort of a car, project a clean, environment-friendly image and be optimised aerodynamically to maximise fuel efficiency. The production volumes of trucks are much lower than for cars. This, and the desire to maintain high level of manufacturing flexibility and rapid model replacement programmes, means manufacturing processes and materials need to be carefully considered when determining a product's tooling investment.
