Better built than a GTV, and better looking than most of its rivals, the Brera seems to be turning into the best ever used Alfa Romeo. There aren't many more regrettable recurrent failures in the car business than the one seemingly perpetrated by Alfa Romeo, year by year. The 'Alfisti' know what I'm talking about; why is it that, with each new coupe, fast saloon or hot hatchback, Turin seems only to prove that it has lost its ability to make great sports cars? Truth is, the creator of the revered Giulia Sprint, GTA and Alfasud no longer classes itself as a sports car brand. For the last two decades its priority has been to drive up the quality, reliability and desirability of its mainstream models, to cast itself as a Latin BMW with added spirit and soul.
