Anekal division of Bangalore district in Karnataka is a premier bivoltine seed area catering to the needs of the sericulture industry by generating quality seed cocoons. The quality and quantity of mulberry leaf is the primary requisite for the production of quality cocoons. The quality productivity depends primarily on the extent of adoption of integrated technology package (ITP) by the sericulturists in their mulberry cultivation. The study was conducted in the division during 2004 - 2005 to know the impact of ITP on leaf production, knowledge & adoption level of sericulturists with respect to ITP and their constraints in adoption of ITP. The results clearly indicated an improvement of leaf yield by 37.43% (44700 kg/ha/yr) over the existing yield level of 32525 kg/ha/yr by adopting ITP. The knowledge level of 42.50% of respondents on ITP was medium while 38.33 and 19.17% of the respondents had low and high knowledge levels, respectively. The adoption level of 42.50% of the respondents was medium while that of 30.00 and 27.50% of the respondents was low and high, respectively. The main constraints faced by the sericulturists were lack of knowledge about certain technologies (83.75%), non-availability of technical guidance (81.25%), lack of easy finance (61.25%) and uncertainty of irrigation and power (30%).
