Pedro Ximenez, also known as PX, Pedro or Pedro Jimenez, is a white grape variety that is commonly believed to have originated from Spain. As a varietal wine it produces an intensely sweet, dark, dessert style sherry. There are approximately 10,000 hectares of the variety planted across Spain. It is most prevalent in Montilla-Moriles, in southern Spain, where it accounts for approximately 70% of the region's total plantings. Small plantings of Pedro Ximenez can be found in Australia, Chile and the US. Although similar in name, there is no connection between Pedro Ximenez and Pedro Gimenez, the most widely planted white grape in Argentina.
