The whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) is one of the most injurious and damaging worldwide pests attacking a wide range of important crops, vegetables and ornamental plants (Perring, 2001, Carabali et al., 2005, Touhidul and Shun xiang, 2007 and Abdel- Baky and Al- Deghairi, 2008). It is also one of the major limiting factors for cultivation of tomato in India as it transmits Yellow vein mosaic virus (YVMV). Both vector and disease cause heavy loss to the crop by affecting the quality and yield of the fruits.Earlier, attempts have been made to reduce the YVMV disease in okra by controlling its vector with the use of insecticides (Debnath and Nath, 2002). However, satisfactory control of disease has proved elusive and YVMY disease continues to be a threat tocultivation of tomato. Hence, the present study was conducted with an objective to find out the efficacy of new insecticides against severity and incidence of whitefly and impact on yield of tomato.
