摘要

A stepped spillway is a modified chute spillway, where the continuously sloping channel section has been replaced with series of small drops. The performance of modified structure depends on the size of its step. In this study, an attempt has been made to determine the step sizes for different combinations of drops and discharges which results in maximum hydraulic energy dissipation and has been termed as the optimum step size. Experiments were conducted to study the hydraulic energy dissipation behaviour of a stepped spillway in relation to optimum step size, total drop and discharge under laboratory conditions.
