Household mild producers' economy in Gujarat: a case study of Valasan village of Anand District in Gujarat.

摘要

This study was conducted to understand the economics of household milk producers by taking the case of Valasan Village, Anand District, Gujarat, India. It was found that household dairy farming is viable, though its economic viability is difficult to calculate in precise monetary terms. The cooperative dairy structure has a policy to make instant cash payment for milk deposited and to give annual bonus to the members that was determined by their annual deposit of milk. It is suggested that preservation of the area under, and increase in the productivity of common grazing land in villages is very important from the point of view of household milk producers who are either landless or own very small land.
