Automation of livestock farms activities throughout the world has revolutionized livestock production in keeping pace with population's growing needs. In the current scenario dairy farm management is becoming a complex and labour intensive practice because of paradigm shift from small dairy holding to large commercial dairy farms. In developing countries like India, profitability of dairy farming always depends upon efficient and immediate decision making in all aspects due to limited availability ofresources. Due to scarcity of labour in livestock farm the timeliness of different farm activities is the key factor to optimise farm production, which could be possible only by means of automation. In this context automation in livestock farms may be inevitable for efficient utilization of manpower, performing the task in shorter duration, increasing precision in input application and reducing per unit cost of production of farm produce. Therefore, application of electronic machines for automation atorganized farm could be an excellent idea to improve efficiency and productivity of livestock enterprise.
