Bernd Pischetsrieder And Wolfgang Reitzle's departure from the BMW board recently didn't help Rover's situation, but there is a lot more to the company's woes. There were other problems, some self-inflicted by BMW: announcing a company has problems is guaranteed to dry up sales fast. And saying Longbridge may close gave rise to the expectation that Rover would close and this increased the weekly cash injection necessary to keep Rover going. Killing off the 400 Tourer, 200 Coupe and Cabriolet may not have been such a good idea either, until the new models were through. The question now is will Rover survive? The answer is probably yes.
