Twenty three biof unctional samples of agricultural waste and crop refuses viz. husk, straw and bran belonging to 11 plant species of cereals and legumes were collected, identified and screened for their dry matter, ash content, total N, protein N, protein as well as per cent extractability of protein. In addition, protein concentrates were also analysed for the content of total N, protein N, protein, ash content as well as per cent extractability of total N and protein N. For bioprospection and biofunctional potential, agricultural waste and crop refuses were evaluated on the basis of extractabilities of total N, protein N and protein which were high in Vicia faba L. hence, it was analysed for thier content of crude fibre, starch, and ether extractive and total soluble sugar as well as calorific value. In-vitro enzymatic digestibility of PC sample of V. faba has been studied using pepsion - trypsin enzyme system. In addition, crop refuses were bioprospected for various potential viz. food, feed, fuel, energy and other multifarious utilization for mushrooms production, biogas, solid fumes, cattle beds, seat making, thatch forming and substrate for microbial conversion.
