Need of quality planting material for more colourful flowers

The quality refers to genuine and disease-free planting material. Good quality planting material boosts productivity. Multiplication of true-to-type planting material or seed and making it available to the consumer is the primary responsibility of thenursery industry. One of the major problems in this area is that the name of a variety changes as it changes hands. Therefore, duplicity and multiple naming are very common. Besides, there is no mechanism for certification of mother stock to ensure thedisease-free status. Procuring genuine planting material has become difficult in recent times although a number of private nurseries are involved in this industry. Genuine planting material with acceptable quality is at present available from some of thepublic institutions. However, volume of material that is available is limited due to infrastructural limitations.
