The base material is not only expensive, it is also challenging to process and often even harder to source reliably. Despite these drawbacks, it is increasingly popular with both customers and OEMs. Higher-volume manufacturers are looking for ways to include more wood in their cars, and for many premium carmakers it is an essential part of their image.
