In writing for this page, I take my cue from the enquiries I daily receive from beginners, or from those about to begin. Their questions have a marked similarity; and, these do not change from year to year. The questions which were being asked by thebeginners of twenty years ago are being asked also by the beginners of today. The reader must not, therefore, expect anything new in these pages. The same points will occur here again and again.
