Dry Dressing Treatments of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Seed for Improved Germinability and Field Performance

摘要

The loss of vigour and viability of high-vigour (harvest-fresh) wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) seeds could be effectively controlled by pre-storage dry treatments with chemcials, crude plant materials and pharmaceutical formulations after subsequente storage. The field perofmance and productivity of dry treated seeds were also significantly higher than the untreated control. Physiological and biochemical studies have revelaed that the pre-storage dry treated seeds showed better reuslts in maintaining membrane integrity, enzyme activity and reduced lipid peroxide formation under subsequent storage condition. On the basis of the results, pre-storage dry treatment with aspirin (@50 mg/kg of seed), Catharanthus leaf powder, Trigonella seed powder bleaching powder (@ 2g/kg of seed) and red chilli powder (@ lg/kg of seed) maybe suggested for the imrovement of germinability and filed performance of wheat seed.
