Notes on silage and silage making

Silage is fodder, either green or matured, converted into succulent feed through processes of fermentation. In the usual manner of preparing silage, the fodder is cut fine and stored in airtight chambers (silos) where the cut forage is compressed andcovered to exclude air. The cut forage undergoes fermentation which gives it an agreeable flavour and prevents spoiling.
