Technical experts call the reproductive process apomixis. But among laymen, the technique is known as asexual reproduction through seeds. Others define it as "cloning of plants through seeds," since all offsprings are identical to the parent plant. Apomixis has been identified to be success-ful in more than 35 families of plants, including more than 300 species. It is common in citrus and has been identified in the wild relatives of com, pearl millet, wheat, strawberry and mango.
