Dear Editor “We are disappointed but grateful to hear about the author’s experiences at AMEE 2022 and will do our best to ensure this is not repeated (Hartland Citation2022). The theme of the 2023 annual conference is ‘Inclusive Learning Environments to Transform the Future’ and we aim to create an event where all delegates feel welcomed, respected, accepted and included. It’s important to us that AMEE as an organization, its annual conference and other initiatives are driven by and for our entire community. In this spirit, we strongly encourage educators with an interest and/or expertise in the LGBTQ+?area to consider submitting an abstract to any of the relevant conference themes. In March we will launch ‘AMEE Connect’, which aims to enable educators with common interests to find each other and to share their experiences, perspectives and ideas. All are welcome to use this channel to engage with AMEE and the wider community. AMEE is working on establishing a new committee focused on EDI to address the very issues the author has described. We will be actively seeking broad representation on this committee to promote true inclusion and avoid tokenism.
