US crude futures rise $1.00/bbl on positive signals

HOUSTON (ICIS)--NYMEX WTI crude futures for January delivery settled at $51.90/bbl, up $1.00, on Friday, in response to reports that various OPEC producers had been notifying term contract customers of reduced allocations starting in January. OPEC and a group of non-OPEC producers, including Russia, recently agreed to trim output in order to clear the overhang in global oil supplies.
