IF you're tackling a restoration or just trying to keep a rusting car safe and on the road, doing your own welding can mean substantial savings, and Clarke has launched four new welders to suit many jobs and budgets. There are three MMA/TIG (manual metal arc/tungsten inert gas) machines delivering 120,160 and 200 amps and all are lightweight, making them ideal if you need to transport your kit to where you work. The weight-saving comes from using efficient inverters with a high-switching frequency that makes them less bulky than conventional designs. The smallest weighs in at just 4kg. They all also have a built-in fan, which allows for lengthy welding at full power.
