Comparative efficacy of carbofuran and neem cake for management of Meloidogyne incognita in Black gram

Black gram, Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper, is an important pulse crop grown extensively in rain fed areas of western Odisha. During a preliminary survey, root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, was found to be consistently associated with poor plant growth. Besides the mechanical injury and physiological damage to the plant, its harmful effect on bacterial nodulation probably reduces the nitrogen fixation leading to poor growth, resulting in low yield. Thus, an investigation was carried out for management of the nematode with a view to standardize a management module.
