A one in 100 year flood almost drove Robert and Kathy Henrys' Woodrising Farming business to the wall, destroying 15 years of planning and effort. But they used the experience to address risk issues in their business. "The flood smartened up our riskmanagement," says Rob Henry. "We had always tried to diversify our business because we started from a small capital base and didn't want to have everything in one enterprise. "After the flood we sought ways to further reduce our production risk. We alsobegan to investigate non-production agricultural opportunities such as value-adding."
