The present study has as its goal the determination of those personal qualities which are of occupational importance for air traffic controllers and development of a technology for testing and training air traffic controllers by means of computers. The tasks of professional selection and of the education of air traffic controllers are enumerated. The article describes the basic stages in carrying out these projects on the computer, for example, identification and evaluation of occupational attributes, development of techniques of testing air traffic controllers, evaluation of the reliability and validation of computer-based tests, and performance of exercises on a simulator.
