Grassland conference triple treat

The recent New Zealand annual Grassland Conference delivered new and valuable information for pastoral farmers. In many ways it was a 'triple treat' as it covered dairying, beef and sheep farming, and featured properties and their business on coastalsand country, fertile downland and less fertile hill country. THE CONFERENCE was held in Palmerston North, the centre of Manawatu, in the lower North Island. This region features the three main production industries and is a major centre for pastoral research and education, as Massey University and the Palmerston North research institutes are international by-words in their own way. For some 300 grassland enthusiasts the main focus was on high-perfor-mance systems in dairying, beef and sheep production.
