"Amore flexible and adaptable retirement income stream" was the name of a report released by former Federal Government Treasurer Peter Costello in February 2004. That report paved the way for the transition-to-retirement (TTR) condition of release. The intent was to give older Australians limited access to their superannuation so they could ease into retirement by reducing working hours but supplement income from superannuation savings.
