JOHN Kahlbetzer's Twynam Pastoral Company closed its two feedlots in the past year in the wake of the beef market crash. It is also further diversifying its operation by taking a 25% stake in Australia's largest cotton producer, Colly Cotton Ltd. Thelast year has been a case of "win some, lose some" for Twynam Pastoral Company, which owns a diversified package of 1.5 properties totalling about 360,000 hectares in NSW. Its beef cattle investment stumbled with the market crash, forcing it to shut the feedlots - a 14,000-head operation at Delungra, NSW, and a 4000-head facility at Forbes, NSW.
