WA WHEATBELT FARMS PROFITABLE YEAR: Higher production meant higher surpluses

TOTAL farm incomes and operating surpluses in Western Australia in 1995 were higher than they have been for many years, according to a survey conducted by Planfarm Rural Consultants. For the past 16 years the WA firm has compiled a survey of the production and cashflow figures of its clients. In recent yeais figures from clients of two other WA-based consultancy firms of Bedbrook Johnson and Agrip-lan have been included to swell the numbers. The outcome provides information on farm production and productivity, farm inputs, financial performance and land usage for the average and top 25% of farm businesses in four different rainfall regions.
