From little things big quality oysters grow

Doing lots of small things the right way ensures top quality product for a St Helens oyster farmer. AC A Aquaculture use a wide range of culture systems, different types of oyster holding units and some specialised equipment to grow their Pacific Oysters, However, it is attention to detail that results in their oysters gaining excellent markets throughout eastern Australia and the Asian Block. Craig Lockwood, a Pacific Oyster (Crassostrea gigas) farmer at St Helens on the east coast of Tasmania, hasbeen involved in that industry since the early 1990s. Working in Pittwater and St Helens in Tassie as well as Co well, Ceduna and Coffin Bay in South Australia and Port Stephens in NSW, he was part of the Department of Fisheries' early management team. His work has included studying aquaculture in Japan and projects in oysters, eels and scallops in Tassie.
