With preliminary findings from a definitive feasibility study highlighting significant opportunities to optimise capital and operating costs for South Boulder Mines Ltd's flagship Eritrean project, recent drilling has provided an additional sweetener with the highest grades to date.South Boulder is one of just a handful of foreigners in Eritrea, and has been actively exploring for potash at its Colluli project since 2009.The project, which now stands at an impressive 1.08bt @ 18% KCI for 194mt of contained potash, will become the first open-pit potash project in the world and once in production a leading provider of the compound. Preliminary findings have indicated a significant expansion of potash production beyond the initial planned start-up capacity of 1 mtpa after South Boulder discovered how to process car-nallite mineralisation effectively.The current resource contains around 20% camallite. South Boulder said the inclusion of carnallite mining and processing in the DFS is a significant step in the right direction as it allows less waste material to be mined to produce a tonne of potash, having a strong impact on the overall operating costs.
