THE honeymoon is over. At least that is the impression one would have received from following the press this month. Michelle Grattan, Glenn Milne, Denis Shanahan, Kieran Gilbert would all have us believe that the "honeymoon is over" for our hip new Prime Minister. On the face of it, K-Rudds dream run of good news has taken a bit of a battering. He fronted Parliament this month to sound the warning that a gas plant explosion in Western Australia had blown the wheels off his economic miracle. Then his party got pantsed in the Gippsland by-election. (Pantsed is an official election result term apparently.) The election went to the National Party, no surprise there, but the 7 percent swing away from Labor has a lot of the political commentators talking.
