Introduction: The reproductive characteristics of Indigenous women in urban areas have been poorly documented in the past. Aim: To assess selected reproductive characteristics in urban Indigenous women.Methods: A reproductive questionnaire was administered to women as part of the DRUID study, an investigation of diabetes and related conditions in urban Indigenous people in the Darwin region. Four hundred and forty-one women aged 15-45 years completed the questionnaire. Results: Sixty-eight per cent of women reported at least one previous pregnancy. The median age at first birth was 20 years, and the majority of mothers (74%) had their first child before age 25 years. Later age at first birth was associated with socioeconomic indicators including full-time employment, private health insurance and home ownership.
