Here comes the rain

Rain in some regions is promising relief for sections of the dairy industry, however this will be offset by rising fuel, fertiliser and grains costs and interest rates, writes Peter Wilson, Dairy Australia's industry analyst - Australia. The 2007/08 season has started slowly, with milk production for the first five months down 8% on last year to 4.4 billion litres. However, the early signs of a possible change in trend started to appear late in 2007 (Figure 1).
