In world trade,apparel exports amounted to USus200 billion in 2002,and for many developing countries,apparel exports range from 30% to 75% of their total exports,such as 75% for Bangladesh.During the last few years,the apparel industry,for both industrialized and developing nations,has had some difficult times,such as the Asian financial crisis in 1997-98,the recession in industrialized nations (especially the U.S.),September 11 and SARS in early 2003,which prevented foreign buyers to travel to Asia and especially Hong Kong and China.
