I remember distinctly that this was the title that I gave to a post that was "developing" on the bonsaiclub.it forum and which, in a provocative way, was intended to focus the reader's attention more on the quality of a bonsai which does not always travel in tandem with its size. This Kishu Shimpaku juniper, Juniperus chinensis 'Kishu Shimpaku', that had participated in Kokufu-Ten several years ago was a perfect example. (Figure l) I was impressed by the quality of the shape of the trunk that developed "curling" in a whirlwind dance of deadwood and a live vein creating a spiral - very suggestive, prestigious quality for one juniper.
