Directors of the Maritime Beef Test Station (MBTS) in Nappan, Nova Scotia, hope their facility will be the next to add GrowSafe Beef (GSB) and GrowSafe Feed Intake and Behavior Monitoring technology to their bag of tricks for measuring feed efficiecyamong yearling bulls. The technology is currently in use in more than 60 academic and research sites throughout North America, including three Alberta livestock test stations and the U.S. Department of Agriculture research centre in Beltsville, Maryland. The installation of both innovative systems is now, after an intense two-year investigation and grant application process, dependent upon a positive response from funding agencies, according to those working on the project.
