The Brazilian government has begun safeguard procedures against imports of Chinese-made textiles and apparel,seeking similar restrictions as those with the EU and U.S.until the end of 2008.Once Brazilian textile and apparel manufacturers file the petition,the Ministry of Commerce(MIDC)will have six months to conduct an investigation.In the meantime,China will be given an opportunity to voluntarily restrict its exports to Brazil,holding down the annual growth to 7.5% based on previous 12-month results.
