Rosneft to build second Sakhalin export plant

Russia’s state-controlled Rosneft has chosen Sakhalin island in the country’s far east as the location for a planned 10mn t/yr LNG plant, although it has yet to choose the site. Chief executive Igor Sechin on 16 July signed a construction agreement with Sakhalin governor Alexander Khoroshavin. The west coast village of Ilyinskoye and the village of Taranai, which lies on Aniva bay in southern Sakhalin, have been identified as possible sites, according to Rosneft.
