Groningen reduction impossible — Dutch government

There will be no reduction in gas produc- tion from the key Dutch field Groningen until at least winter 2014-15, despite recent earthquakes in the region where the field is located. Output will remain unchanged in win- ter 2013-14 because the gas has already been sold, the Dutch government says. The government has faced calls to limit production from the swing field because of recent earthquakes in the region. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) reported a number of tremors with a magnitude of over 2.0, particularly on 7-8 February.
