Town gas sales increase in Japan

Japan’s total town gas sales increased by about 1.5pc to 2.82mn m~3 in July from 2.78mn m~3 a year earlier thanks to stronger industrial and commercial sector demand, especially in the west of the country, the Japan Gas Association says. Town gas sales to industry rose by 3.7pc to 1.73mn m~3 as the number of firms using town gas increased. Commercial consumption moved higher by 1.9pc to just over 388,000m~3 on stronger air conditioning demand because of higher-thanaverage temperatures.
