US market structure changing

With the US nitrogen industry on the brink of a shift away from import reliance due the start up of new plants and expansion projects, producers took steps over the last two weeks to concentrate US supply in the hands of few players. The most notable and first of these steps was proposed merger of CF Industries and OCI, which puts the Wever, Iowa, plant in the hands of the US’ incumbent nitrogen giant.
