Brazilian sulphur buyer and fertilizer producer Vale is reported to have secured the majority of its fourth quarter requirements of around 360,000t for shipment to Santos in the $80-82/t cfr range. This range has also been confi rmed by the company's key contract suppliers and is the fi rst confi rmed and assessed sulphur contract price for the quarter. The range is an increase of $2/t on the bottom end and $1/t on the top end compared to 3Q prices of $78-81/t cfr and is the fi rst increase in Brazil quarterly prices negotiated since a $5/t increase was achieved between the fourth quarter of 2014 and the fi rst quarter of 2015.
