Metso Minerals Cone Crusher for Secondary Crushing

Metso Minerals has added another important component to its Nordberg CP series of eleven cone crushers: The new Nordberg GP550 cone crusher, designed mainly for use in secondary, tertiary or fine crushing, is an exceptionally compact solution with a low installation height (Fig. 1). The crusher features a relatively large feed opening of 300 mm (Fig. 2). The special shape of the flat cone ensures a high size reduction ratio compared to other cone crushers used in secondary crushing. The larger ball size or gap width of the GP550 compared to comparable crushers allows upstream jaw crushers to handle higher throughput rates. Moreover the much flatter cone influences the particle shape, which is an advantage, for example, in the production of ballast. In a closed circuit, the machine is usually used to crush 0/45 or 0/55 mineral mixes. The throughput of the Nordberg GP550 ranges between 160 and 500 t/h.
