Italy’s Saipem, through its subsidiary ERSAI Caspian Contractor, has won a US $1.8 Bn “major new engineering and construction contract” for the Kashagan field in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea. The North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) awarded Saipem the deal for the construction of two 95km pipelines, which will connect D Island in the Caspian Sea to the Karabatan onshore plant in Kazakhstan.
