We forecast China's natural gas production to increase by 40% over the next decade, from 132.9bn cubic meters (bcm) in 2014 to 221.7bcm in 2024. While sustained weakness in oil prices will slow down international investment in developing the country's shale gas prospects, overall production growth will be driven by rising gas output from conventional, offshore as well as national oil company (NOC)-led shale gas plays.
