Business and government agencies from Japan and Australia have pledged to invest in a number of important projects in Viet Nam, including construction of a new urban area, an overhaul of rural water supplies, and poverty reduction efforts. Australian Prime Minister John Howard, recently in Ha Noi for the 14th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, announced on Thursday two new funding initiatives to support economic growth and poverty reduction in Viet Nam.
