A technology for measurement of traffic flow is described in this paper. At first, the relations betweenfundamental items can be measured and items are required by applications are described. Next, thesensors to measure the fundamental items such as number of cars through under the sensor, velocityof each car, velocity of car group and image sensor for the same purpose are described. Finally, it isdescribed that the items became complicate such as the length of traffic jam, travel time to thedestination, detection of accident, and the example of algorithms.
