Roth Testifies before Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on Levee Reconstruction

On November 17 Larry Roth, P.E., G.E., F.ASCE, the deputy executive director of ASCE, testified before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works regarding the rebuilding of New Orleans's levees. The hearing was preceded by a markup of legislation that would require the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to produce an integrated plan for flood control and protection from hurricanes up to category 5 for Louisiana. Roth has more than 30 years of experience as a practicing geotechnical engineer, principally in the areas of water resources, dams, and canals. I am pleased to appear before you today to testify on behalf of ASCE to discuss the preliminary findings on the failure of the Gulf Coast levees during Hurricane Katrina in August...and the degree to which levee repairs are incorporating those findings....
