During new product qualification, process engineers strive to increase efficiency and cost effectiveness. Often, evaluated products that are deemed expensive per unit, actually offer additional long-term savings and can be the more cost-effective choice in the long run. Therefore, due diligence on the part of the process engineer is more than important — especially because changes made later in an established process are completed at a higher cost.
