This paper discusses features of the formation of a latent associative image of holograms in films based on poly-N-epoxypropyl carbazole with additives of organic dyes with intramolecular charge transfer. An analogy is found between the latent image formed by holograms in a photorefractive crystal and in photothermoplastic media. This analogy is explained by the photogeneration of long-lived charge carriers. The dependences of the photogeneration and recombination efficiency of charge carriers on temperature, the intensity and wavelength of light, and irradiation time are Studied in photothermoplastic media. It is shown that there is a correlation between the concentration, the lifetime of the photogenerated charge carriers, and the efficiency and storage time of the latent image.
