Crude exports from FSU countries rose by nearly 7pc from August to 6.3mn b/d (25.5mn t) in September, driven by Russian shipments. But January-September exports were down by some 250,000 b/d, reflecting waning European demand and field maintenance in the Caspian. Exports from Russia, including transit, through the Transneft pipeline system to non-CIS destinations rose by nearly 11pc from August to 4.1mn b/d. Refinery maintenance in Russia freed up roughly 2mn t of crude for export. But January-September exports were down by nearly 3pc on the same period last year at 4mn b/d. Eastbound flows went some way to offsetting falling deliveries to Europe. Some 960,000 b/d has flowed east through Transneft’s system this year, up by 210,000 b/d on 2013.
